If you need to know how to clean your drone motors then look no further — I explain everything you need to know about cleaning brushless motors with even the toughest grime.

All you need is a few tools and materials:

  • 1.5mm driver to disassemble the drone motor. I use the Ethix prop tool

Ethix Prop Tool - 1.5mm

The steps are simple, take the motor apart, separate the bell from the motor stator, and then clean the magnets inside the motor bell using the Fun-tak to pull any magnetic dust or junk from the sidewall. Then use a little bit of alcohol on a q-tip and make your way around the bell until things look nice. But note to keep the rubbing alcohol away from the bearings as they are not fully sealed and can have their factory lubrication degraded if alcohol were to get inside.
