Grab The Ethix Chesty Here

The Ethix Chesty Tactical Chest Rig is one of the most versatile pieces of FPV gear I’ve picked up in a while. It’s a hybrid chest rig and fanny pack designed to keep tools, batteries, props, and even a camera mount right on your body—perfect for those times you can’t set your gear bag down.

Why I Use It

Flying at bandos (abandoned buildings) often means dusty, dirty surfaces that can ruin gear. With the Chesty, I can keep essentials on me and leave my main bag behind—so nothing gets caked in that dreaded magnetic dust. At drift tracks, it’s equally handy for holding spare batteries and filming stick cam shots when paired with the GP16 magnetic GoPro mount.

Key Features

  • Customizable Strap System – Adjustable for different body types, though some may find the extra anchor points tricky to clip without flexibility.
  • Removable Battery Pouch – Velcro-attaches anywhere on the rig, great for props, trash, or small parts.
  • Large Rear Pocket – Durable, vinyl-lined interior similar to Patagonia Black Hole bags; perfect for bigger items.
  • Tools Pocket – Fits prop tools, screwdrivers, pliers, and more. Saves me from carrying a separate leather tool roll.
  • Front “Muff” Pocket – Can hold a hand warmer in winter; also houses the magnetic camera mount.
  • Side Battery Pouches – One on each side, ideal for race days.
  • Velcro Back Panel – Lets you mount the whole rig to a stand or wall for easy access on set.

Pros

  • Highly customizable layout
  • Durable build with quality zippers and materials
  • Multiple pockets keep essentials accessible
  • Converts into a fanny pack or standalone gear pouch
  • Good value for around $50

Cons

  • Strap system can be awkward to put on at first
  • Magnetic GoPro mount may drop the camera if running
  • Can cause back strain if overloaded

Final Thoughts

I don’t wear it for every flying session, but when I know I’ll be swapping props, tightening parts, or walking to hard-to-reach spots, the Ethix Chesty is my go-to. The ability to strip it down and use it as a compact parts/tool bag means it’s not just another piece of gear—it’s part of my daily FPV kit rotation.
