Linktree is cool, but why bother paying monthly for a service that’s going to add up big over time?
What is Linktree
Linktree is a linking service that acts as a middleman between followers and the links the creator wants to share. It provides a links page, simplifies design, and gives creators app integrations and link analytics.
Linktree VS Website
Linktree ends up ranking for keywords you might benefit from, which is taking traffic from your website. It doesn’t even show you who clicks the links!
Take for example this site I rebuilt. It had no rankings or traffic a few months ago, but now it’s got over 3,000 people visiting each and every month, and it’s picked up over 4.1K keywords in just THREE months!

This is a screenshot of a tool I use for keyword research. It is looking at the top keywords Linktree ranks for (at the time of this writing). If you were to Google any of these words, chances are you would find their Linktree on the first, or second page on Google. Try “tyceratops” for first result or “selena gomez” for ~14
Logic tells me it’d be better for most people to have the traffic column be redirected straight into a website instead. You’d have that rank in Google, and it’s direct traffic to your links.
Linktree is a great all in one freemium solution, but it is all about upselling into $5-$24 /month charges that add up over time — figure $5*12 = $60 a year to $24*12 = $288 a year.
I rather spend $3 a month ($36 for a year) of web hosting and get a free domain name of my choosing and build it myself. It takes about an hour. Start Here.
Anywho, that’s my rant on Linktree. It’s a nice idea, and helpful. But you can do it far cheaper and start an actual website with the money.

How does linktree make money
Linktree makes money from subscribers paying for their easy-to-use interface to create landing pages for social media. While it’s a nifty tool to use, you’re losing out on the power of owning your own site and having it convert potential customers.
Alternatives To Linktree
Why not put your FPV name into a tool that gives you your own WEBSITE? That would do so much more for you as a pilot than what Linktree is going to get you!
Go ahead and give it a look, just click this button and put your FPV name in to see if it’s available.

Limitations of Linktree
Lack of customization
While Linktree offers a range of templates for basic branding, you might find yourself limited in terms of design options. Consider how much you can truly customize the look and feel of your Linktree page to align with your brand identity.
Limited functionality
Linktree is great for link organization, but it isn’t the best for e-commerce stuff. If you’re interested in gaining rankings in Google, this is not the way.
Dependency on third-party platform
Relying solely on Linktree means you’re putting your online presence in the hands of a third-party platform. While it’s generally reliable, there’s always a risk involved when you’re not in full control of your stuff.
